About

I spend hours on the web. I see the good, the bad and the ugly of the web.

I started my online journey using Bulletin Board Systems and University Internet connections in the late 80s. I was then hacking into the open unix systems to run neural network based dog racing programs. Computing power was expensive in those days.

I started my Internet business in usenet groups. I was selling submliminal tapes for stop smoking and weight loss programs.

When the web arrived, I created my first web page in Geocities. The page had my bookmarks. I published my bookmarks so that I could access them anywhere in the world using an internet connection.

I also started a network of free adult sites and one membership site. It was great in those days. I would run a porgram called picture sucker that would download pictures from adult usenet groups into my hardrive all night. I wrote another program that would publish selected pictures, based on some rules, to my network of free sites. It was all automatic.

I also wrote a couple of scripts to post ads and pictures for promoting my sites in usenet news groups using NNTP or dejanews service. Internet access in those days was through the phone modem. I was paying close to $1,000 a month for my phone bills. However, I was also making 10 times my expenses.

During the heydays of my involvement with adult web site operations, I also setup a few non-adult sites and kind of forgot about those, except renewing the domain every few years. They sat in one of my leased servers. Making money from non-adult sites was not a lucrative propositions in those days.

Due to persoanl reasons, I sold all my adult sites in 1999 and took six years leave from actively engaging in website operations. However, I kept my non-adult sites and a few adult site domains (now parked with Sedo).

In 2005, I revied a few non adult-sites and since then I am in the online business again.

With an educational background in Computer Science, I write and blog about online marketing, technology, personal finance, and politics. I am also a web entrepreneur and I own more than a dozen developed websites and 200 domains
